Ash Clift, MD, PhD
Director, Analytics
Ash leads our in-house analytics team, overseeing the design, execution and timely delivery of analyses across Vitaccess’ study portfolio.
He is a clinical epidemiologist and data scientist with over a decade’s experience in real world evidence, predictive analytics, clinical research and population health. After starting his career as an academic doctor, Ash moved into the healthcare data space and has driven evidence generation in both academia and industry (including biotech and med-tech start-ups).
He has a track record of developing and validating risk prediction algorithms using large, population-level linked datasets for multiple cancers (e.g. breast and pancreatic), and was a core member of the team that developed the QCOVID algorithm which informed vaccination prioritisation and added over 1 million people to the ‘shielding list’ during the pandemic in the UK. Ash has co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications (inc. BMJ, Lancet Digital Health) and 5 textbooks, with multiple international conference lectures (inc. ESMO).
He trained at Oxford and Imperial medical schools, before returning to Oxford for his PhD. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health, an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Authority, and an Honorary Research Fellow at Imperial College London.
Outside of work, you’ll probably find Ash out with his beloved sighthound Jazz on the common, practicing his DJ ‘skills’, or keeping fit.
