SENIOR QA ENGINEER 

Location: Oxford (home/flexible working by agreement)
Hours: 80-100% flexible
Salary: Flexible for the right candidate, so don’t rule us (or yourself) out on that! Must be eligible to work in the UK

At Vitaccess, the Senior QA Engineer is responsible for helping to develop and manage the quality of our applications. You will be working closely with the developers, testers, and business analysts, to ensure our clients and patients groups get the high-quality applications they need.

As part of a small but enthusiastic team, you should be prepared to turn your hand to anything. We are looking for someone to really own quality assurance within Vitaccess across our platforms.

You will report directly to the Director of Technology and will not initially have a team locally as most QA work is currently outsourced. Therefore, you should have the experience needed to make great decisions independently about quality, security, vulnerabilities and testing. It’s an exciting opportunity to implement new plans and processes, free from the constraints of legacy systems and you’ll relish the challenge!

Responsibilities

  • Defining the test plans and processes for the business.

  • Testing development team code and products, documenting issues into a database and assigning appropriately to the development team, seeing through to resolution.

  • Review of all test scripts and architecture, analysing and presenting any risks associated with this.

  • Producing high quality bug reports covering description, accurate reproduction steps and severity.

  • Work with consultants and business developers on testing new features and flows being released.

  • Writing and executing test plans.

  • Executing new and regression tests.

  • Reproducing existing bugs.

  • Work with a separate business teams to ensure new features are tested.

  • Maintain good rapport with developers and manage the relationship with the external development teams to stay on top of any incoming changes that could affect features.

  • Work with stakeholders across development teams and consider options for implementing test automation.

  • Work alongside the developers, testers, and business analysts to inform the development team on client reported issues and seeking to improve the overall product with suggestions or improvements

  • Build a strong QA base to support the growth of the business and development work and products

You’ll definitely be good at making strong and effective working relationships with the different teams within the business. Combined with a high attention to detail and a desire to develop and release only the best products and apps.

We are looking for the following experience:

  • Previous experience as a Senior QA Engineer, both with manual and automation experience.

  • Previous experience in a regulated industry, ideally health, science, pharmaceutical or similar.

  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes.

  • Experience and a strong understanding of the testing position within SCRUM/Agile continuous delivery environments.

  • Experience testing multi-platform software: Android, iOS, AWS, GCP with consideration of the convention of each platform.

  • Testing at each level (API, UI, database, etc)

  • A methodical and analytical mindset.

  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

  • Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Builds and maintains good relationships with their team department and across the company.

  • Ability to work without supervision and under pressure.


Bonus points for:

  • Experience with mobile/web development.

  • Experience with tools such as Jira/Codebase.

  • ISTQB-BCS Foundation Certificate or above.

  • Experience setting up QA functions and testing teams.

  • Experience working with outsourced teams

  • Test automation tools such as Eggplant, Ansible, Jenkins to invert the ice-cream cone!
