The role…

Our Analytics team currently comprises experience and expertise in econometrics and health economics, medical statistics, data visualization, and data management, amongst other areas. Working within the team, this role would be perfect for a biostatistician, statistical analyst, or data scientist due to the varied nature of the work when applied statistics, data management, and digital patient registries are combined.

You’ll be part of a small team, in a small company, actively working to support our digital, real-world patient registries – from start-up study design and documentation, right through to final statistical analysis and reporting. Along the way, you’ll work hand-in-hand with people across the entire company, on publications, payer submission materials, being responsive to clients for ad hoc analyses, and working with our Product team to manage and process data. This is a role built for a wide range of skills, experience, and ambition.

Who you are…

You will be an early-career statistician and/or data scientist. You will be proficient in R and have good knowledge of database management solutions such as Python and SQL. Some of the team also use Stata, so perhaps you even have knowledge of things like Stata and AWS!

You will come from a clinical, healthcare, health services, or pharmaceutical research background. When we interview you and start talking about the intricacies of statistical analysis plans and quality control logs, we will expect you to know what is going on. But it is an early-career role: we aren’t expecting you to be an expert on every little statistical thing. You will be someone who wants this role because of how much you will learn very quickly.

You will have some experience managing research datasets, ideally complex ones. This will have given you the necessary knowledge about data manipulation and statistical analyses, data quality checking and cleaning, and working in a data management setting.

What you’ll do…

This role requires taking on a range of activities, which include:

  • Working closely with the Statistics Lead and Data Visualization Lead to support the analytics across all of our registries, from research portal dashboards to formal statistical analyses.

  • Being a go-to person for data management and processing, as well as analytics platform support, providing technical and analytical expertise.

  • Providing support for producing, reviewing, and QCing project requirements and other documentation, including statistical analysis plans, data specifications, and study protocols.

  • Publishing results of studies and contributing to the writing and publishing of scientific presentations.

  • Providing support for technical audits and ensuring continued compliance with required company training, time reporting, and other business/operational processes.

  • Keeping on top of developments in data technologies, analytics, methods, and systems.

  • Being knowledgeable about data protection issues.

  • Being able to write software programs, for example, to extract data from databases and to clean data (using SQL, R, Python, Java).

  • Managing your workload, including developing and following process documents that sit within the Analytics team.

 Essential skills and experience…

• MS (with 1+ years of experience) or PhD (with 1+ years of experience) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or another demonstrably relevant field.
• Proven knowledge of the R environment.
• Demonstrated high degree of technical competence and effective communication skills, both oral and written.

Desirable skills and experience…

  • Good knowledge of any of the following:

    • RStudio

    • Python

    • SQL

    • Java

    • Stata

  • Experience-based knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, directly or through, e.g., academic roles, or roles with developers, manufacturers, or in consulting, and related evidence development.

  • Knowledge of experimental and real-world evidence study design, descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, statistical modeling, and statistical programming.

  • Knowledge of methodologies for handling missing data, confounding, and bias, among other challenges, within observational studies.
